CHO is an all-volunteer organization that helps by providing

  • Emergency financial assistance
  • Emergency food aid

  • Furniture

  • Transportation

The links on the menu bar take you to descriptions of each of these services, as well as to information on our organization and, most important, on how you can help.

CHO Clothes and Food Closet Needs a New Home

For the last 10 years, we have housed our food and clothes closets in space graciously provided for free by Vienna Presbyterian Church. Through circumstances out of VPC’s control, the complex where the space is located is going to be redeveloped, and we will need to move before the end of October 2022. We are hoping to find another organization that would be willing to host our food and clothes pantry. If your church or business has approximately 950 square feet of space we could use for free or substantially below market rates, please read the attached document. If the space you can offer meets the threshold requirements or if you have any suggestions that might help us in our search, please email us at facility@cho-va.com.

Vienna CROP Hunger Walk

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Vienna CROP Hunger Walk, which raised over $15,000 for local and international hunger relief efforts. CHO appreciates your support. Congratulations to all team captains, to Chair Lisa Hechtman from Emmaus UCC, Marsha Kormandt, and to Belinda Addae from Church World Services. Thanks to Supervisor Walter Alcorn and Elder Robert Faison from Emmaus and Reverend Jon Strand from the Church of the Holy Comforter for participating.

THANK YOU!

Thanks to the generosity of OLGC parishioners, the September Outreach program raised over $6,200 in gift and grocery cards and donations (which will be used to buy cards) for CHO, the Committee for Helping Others. CHO will distribute these cards at its Christmas Store in Early December, allowing over 200 families (700 individuals) to purchase some extra food or gifts during the holidays, and brightening the holidays for many parents, children, and others in our community. Many thanks from CHO to those who donated, to the parish for allowing us to participate in the Outreach Program, and to the volunteers who collected between Masses.
