CHO has moved

CHO has moved. Our new Food Closet will open in July and will be at the Vienna Presbyterian Church, 124 Park St. NE. You will need to call us when you arrive in the parking lot. The door is the one facing Maple Avenue and in the parking lot (see arrow), not on Park Street. Our phone number is the same: 703-281-7614 box # 1.

The Clothes Closet will be at Unity of Fairfax, 2854 Hunter Mill Rd., Oakton. The number is the same. 703-679-8966.

CHO se ha movido. Nuestro nuevo Food Closet abrirá en julio y estará en la Iglesia Presbiteriana de Viena, 124 Park St. NE. Deberá llamarnos cuando llegue al estacionamiento. CHO is collecting bikes again!

CHO’s Christmas bike collection has 4(!) different drop-off locations this year. Leave your bikes (preferably bikes suitable for teens and adults):

in the parking lot of Antioch Christian Church (1860 Beulah Rd)

or in the driveway at:
317 Church St. NE,
218 Elmar Dr. SE, or
9807 Wintercress Ct.

The collection begins October 1 and ends the Saturday after Thanksgiving (November 25).

CHO’s new food closet!

On Sunday, September 24, Vienna Presbyterian Church (VPC) hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of CHO’s new Food Closet at VPC.  Pictured are CHO’s Carolyn Mysel cutting the ribbon, with Reverend Dr. Hope Lee of VPC (second from left) and representatives of Belong! and VPC participating.On Sunday, September 24, Vienna Presbyterian Church (VPC) hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of CHO’s new Food Closet at VPC. KIDS GIVING BACK is a nonprofit organization in Northern Virginia that educates children about volunteer opportunities.

Our own Todd Hall talked to them about CHO and the kids made snack bags for our Food Closet to distribute to clients.

PUT ON YOUR WALKING/RUNNING SHOES FOR TWO GOOD CAUSES

Navy Federal 5K Race on Saturday, September 30
Join your neighbors at the Vienna Navy Federal 5K Race, part of whose proceeds are used to support CHO. The race starts at 9 am on Sat., September 30, at the Navy Federal Credit Union, 820 Follin Lane SE, Vienna. Sign up at Navy Federal Vienna and Virtual 5K (runsignup.com)

Vienna CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, October 1
Join the 2023 Annual Vienna CROP Walk on Sunday October 1. The Walk supports CHO as well as international hunger relief efforts. It is approximately 2.4 miles and takes about an hour. A shorter 1.2-mile walk is also available. The Walk begins at 12:30 pm on Sunday October 1 (registration/check-in starts at 12:15), at Emmaus United Church of Christ, 900 Maple Avenue East, Vienna. To register, donate, or for more information, go to Vienna CROP Hunger Walk. There is no fee to walk, but walkers are encouraged to donate or to find sponsors who will make donations to support their efforts. You can even form your own team!
